Spring is an ideal time to consider taking a safe cycling course before the season starts in earnest. Bike Niagara is offering courses that enhance your cycling knowledge and skills to lower your risks and stay out of harms way. Courses are composed of an in-class component with presentation slides and static demonstrations, and/or an on-bike session with your bicycle in a car free environment followed by an optional short on road bike ride. - Adult On-bike Course, FREE– 2 hrs., 10:00am to noon, Bethany Church parking lot, 1040 Balfour St., Fenwick. May 10, 2025 (rain date May 17th). Course includes safety tips, equipment checks, 8 individual bike handling skills, plus a review of group riding skills followed by a short road ride to a lunch location. - Adult Bike Safety Course, 2 hour In-class and/or 2 hour On-bike, City of Welland, Welland Community Centre, 145 Lincoln St., Welland, ON L3B 6E1. Register with the Town of Welland at 905-735-1700, Ext. 4000. $10 fee required, covers both courses.
In-Class Presentation, Welland Community Centre, Activity Room, Sat. May 24, 2025, 10:00am to noon – Contents include safety principles, equipment essentials, traffic positioning, rules of the road, and hazards.
On-Bike Session, Welland Community Centre, Parking Lot, Sat. May 31, 2025, 10:00am to noon (rain date June 7th) – Key items covered with your bike will include pre-ride safety checks, handling skills, emergency maneuvers and a short road ride.
