BikeNiagara hosted our first Safe Cycling for Fun and Health class last night at the Regional Building. We would like to thank Sergeant Scott Elliot from the Niagara Regional Police who was called in at the last minute to instruct the course in place of Ted Higgins who had to deal with a family emergency. Scott is an avid road cyclist and mountain bike rider and instructs the NRP Bike Unit in proper bike handling skills.
We had 16 participants for our free course which was a great turnout for the first class. A lot of information was passed on to participants as well as some excellent questions that added to the discussion. Our next segment of Getting Started will be Tuesday, May 1 and our first on-bike class (Segment 2) takes place on Monday, May 14.
Consider signing up, and on completion of Segment 2 training receive a free one year membership to the Niagara Freewheelers Touring Club (valued at $30). If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email us at bikeniagara.org@gmail.com
Cheers,
Walt
